GVPAA Attends the Independence Awards

On May 20th, GVPAA members had the privilege of attending the Independence Awards in Philadelphia. The awards recognize students participating in high school musical theater, celebrate the accomplishments of thespians, and raise funds for underprivileged school theater programs. Garnet Valley’s production of Beauty & the Beast was nominated for Best Dance Ensemble, Best Orchestra, and Best Ensemble. Other nominations received included Best Song (Be Our Guest), Best Sound, and Best Marketing & Publicity. Carli Fruchtl was nominated for Best Creative Leadership, and Mrs. Arters was nominated for Best Theater Educator. In those categories, we won Best Orchestra, Best Marketing & Publicity, and Best Theater Educator! The cast of Beauty & the Beast got to perform “Be Our Guest” one final time at the awards show, receiving very enthusiastic and lengthy applause. Congratulations to all of the winners and nominees, and a huge thank you to the Independence Awards for this incredible opportunity!
