The GV Music Department is excited to announce that the Garnet Valley School District has been recognized with the Best Communities for Music Education designation from The NAMM Foundation for the third consecutive year.
This distinguished honor, now celebrating its 25th anniversary, is awarded to schools and districts that show outstanding commitment to providing comprehensive music education to all students. The belief is that music is an essential and distinctive part of the human experience and that every student in Garnet Valley should have access to a dynamic and comprehensive music education. Moreover, music education is instrumental in developing vital social and cognitive skills that benefit students throughout their lives.
To achieve the Best Communities designation, the department answered detailed questions regarding funding, graduation requirements, participation in music classes, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program, and community music-making activities. These responses were validated by school officials and evaluated by The Music Research Institute at the University of Kansas.
The GV Music Department is proud and grateful to be part of a community that values not only music but also the arts, athletics, career training, and academic pursuits that contribute to a well-rounded education. They extend their heartfelt appreciation to the dedicated staff of Garnet Valley for their support of music education, believing it is a privilege to be part of a district that excels in many areas and creates an environment where every student can thrive.
