Congratulations to Juliana Dreyer for earning a prestigious spot in the 2025 National Art Honor Society (NAHS) Juried Exhibition! Her gorgeous artwork, Wolf Sanctuary, was selected from over 2,400 entries, making it one of just 83 works chosen for this highly competitive showcase.
Open exclusively to members of NAHS/NJAHS chapters, the NAHS Juried Exhibition is a national platform that recognizes the artwork of talented student artists. Those that are chosen have the opportunity to share their work with a wider audience, the virtual exhibition taking place from March 11th - August 21st, 2025.
Read below to learn more about Juliana, a current senior, and her stunning piece. Congratulations once again on this amazing achievement! This is a proud moment for the Garnet Valley Community and we wish her the best of luck in her artistic journey ahead.
I created this artwork after attending a field trip to a wolf sanctuary for my AP Environmental Science class. On this trip, we observed wolves in the sanctuary, and I captured a photo of one that eventually led to the reference for this work. In my AP Drawing class, my sustained investigation follows the question "How can I show the relationship between humans and nature?" After this field trip and witnessing the wolves in person, I felt that it was a perfect moment to show a connection through my artwork, and thus created this piece. I wanted to demonstrate the human inclination to cage animals, which is why I chose to emphasize the fence, but I also wanted to highlight the purity of wildlife as the wolf is simply lying in the sun.
I am very grateful to have achieved this accomplishment and it's not something I ever expected to achieve. Although I do not plan to pursue art as part of my career, I hope to always cherish it as a passion and a creative outlet. I believe that art, in all forms, has the power to connect you to others and the world around you while deepening your understanding of yourself. I want to thank Mrs. Buchanan, my current art teacher, for helping me with this piece and my journey as an artist.
