Lit-Mag Receives a Superior Award In REALM

Garnet Valley High School is thrilled to announce that Quintessence, our very own Literary Magazine, has been awarded a Superior Award in the 2024 NCTE Recognizing Excellence in Art and Literary Magazines (REALM) contest! This is the first time Garnet Valley has entered the contest, and everyone in the club hopes to do even better next year. This entire thing wouldn’t be possible without Mrs. Carolyn Perry and the hard-working students in the club. A special thanks to the student editors: Shreya Kumar, Bhava Samhitha, Ash Popeck, Anita Fard Sanei, and Ekisha Tandon.
In 2024, middle schools, high schools, and higher education from 46 states and five countries nominated student magazines to REALM. Out of the 421 student magazines submitted, Quintessence was one chosen for this national distinction. By recognizing us and the many other schools, REALM encourages all schools to develop magazines that continue to celebrate the unique voices that emerge through art and writing.

With its 43 pages of beautiful artwork, poetry, design, and writing, there is certainly no doubt that this magazine deserves this award. After scrolling through the pages of Quintessence, I was struck by the remarkable quality of the writing, art, and layout. I highly recommend that anyone check it out!
Literary magazine always welcomes new members, they meet on Wednesdays during Learn 1 in A128 and would love to see you there! They also highly recommend submissions from any student at GVHS. If you ever have had anything you wanted to write or draw about, submitting something is an amazing way to not only contribute to the club, but also show off your creativity.
