Congratulations to Garnet Valley's boys' lacrosse team for their consistent success this season, with no end in sight!

Before their start in district or state playoffs, the Jags fought all regular season and ended up going 15-3. They only lost by a few points to some of the best teams in the Central League.

On May 29th, after a tough fight through the district playoffs, the Garnet Valley Jags were off to play the Springfield Cougars in the District Championship Game, which they lost to 10-9 during their regular season.

It was a tense game which ended up rolling into overtime. With two minutes left in the game, the crowd roared as Drew Golt tossed the ball into the goal, securing the win. Then and there the Jags had become the 2024 District Champions.

With a great end to district playoffs, the Jags barely had time to celebrate before it was time to get ready for states as round one was less than a week away.

Round one of states was held on June 4th at The Moe, where the Jags played Springford. The home game attracted lots of fans and Jag spirit which kept the team going through the night.

What should have been an easier game than the one before, started tense with a tied score of 4-4 at the end of the second quarter.

The Jags knew they had to keep their success going, so they fought hard through the third quarter to go into the fourth up 8-5.

The Rams scored twice in 20 seconds at the start of the fourth quarter, shocking the fans and Jags, letting them know they had to pick up their defense. With just 1:33 minutes left in the game, the Rams scored again, making the score a tight 8-7 with the Jags just barely in the lead.

However, despite the Ram's sudden comeback near the end of the game, the Jags were able to pick up the pace and secure a win for round one of states with a final score of 8-7.

This pushes the Jags into round two of states, where they are bound to play the Mt. Lebanon Blue Devils at Penn State this Saturday, June 8th, at 4:30 pm.

The Blue Devils have an ongoing record of 17-4 and have shown themselves to be a fierce competitor every year in state playoffs. With the Jaguars riding high on their recent victories and with their fans cheering them on, they certainly have a strong chance to overcome the Blue Devils this weekend and keep their momentum going!
