Even as the summer is ending, people are still flying everywhere. (I’m writing this article from California actually!) Do you want to know what the first rule of flying is? BEING PREPARED!!! So here’s a quick list of a few of my personal do’s and don'ts for easy flying.
DO: Bring a lightweight backpack! Something small and portable that holds the essentials like your wallet, ticket, phone, and passport.
DON’T: Pack more than you’re gonna need. Not only will your bag be HEAVY, you are gonna be super tight and crowded on the plane.
DO: Try to eat before the flight. Airport food is super expensive, and plane food really isn’t that good, so bringing your own snacks or eating before the flight saves money and time.
DON’T: Bring food that will melt/ can go bad easily. Flights are long and waiting is even longer, if you bring food that can easily melt or go bad you could be stuck with a gross smelling bag for hours. Which is really not fun on a tight airplane.
DO: Bring some sort of pillow/ something to rest on. Even if you don’t sleep on planes your neck will absolutely start to HURT. Having some sort of pillow or soft object to rest on can bring some comfort.
DON’T: Bring things that can take up other people’s space. Most of the time you’ll be sitting next to friends or family, so less space is understandable. However, if you’re sitting next to someone you don’t know it’s best you decide to not bring bulky objects.
DO: Wear layers! Planes and airports can be totally FREEZING (or humid), it’s a lifesaver to have layers on you and room in your bag for if you need to do a quick change. Your comfort will thank you.
DON’T: Wear something you can’t sit in for a few hours. Even if you know your flight isn’t that long it can still take a while to not only move through the airport but then wait in it. If you wear something uncomfortable it can make the experience much more difficult than it has to be.
Obviously, a list like this is up to the individuals, but it’s still important to keep in mind that flying is already difficult! Making it harder on yourself isn’t necessary, so if you ever need to know what works best take this list into consideration. Happy travels!
