As this fall season arrives, a question looms over our heads. What drink do we pick? Fall is truly the feel-good season, from fall classics like the pumpkin spice latte to a warming hot cocoa. Come with us as we walk through all the flavors of fall, and what to get next time you want a drink.

Pumpkin Spice Latte

A coffee drink that is typically filled to the brim with espresso, and steamed milk, finished with a cinnamon-y feel, it is the most popular fall drink. A little bit of nutmeg is what makes it the best. Starbucks’s most popular seasonal beverage is unmatched by any other. The taste of sophistication in a glass is what the pumpkin spice latte is all about.

Apple Cider

This seasonal drink has a sharp, bittersweet taste. A nutrient-packed juice, this drink of raw unfiltered apples is what you crave in these crisp months. However, this drink is quite cold, so if you were looking for something to warm you up, this is NOT the one. When served warm, it becomes a quintessential fall drink, evoking memories of autumn apple picking. It can also be enjoyed chilled, and some variations include adding a splash of ginger ale for fizz.

Chai Tea Latte

This means “Tea, Tea Latte,” and this hot drink will be the most memorable. Chai tea lattes blend traditional Indian masala chai spices with steamed milk, creating a rich and aromatic drink. The spices typically include cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, and cloves. You can make it from scratch using loose tea leaves and fresh spices, or use a premade chai concentrate. The result is a warming beverage that balances sweet and spicy notes, making it perfect for chilly days.

Hot Chocolate

This delightful drink can be made in many ways, from basic cocoa powder mixed with hot water or milk to rich versions using melted chocolate. Classic toppings include marshmallows, whipped cream, or even a sprinkle of sea salt for a savory twist.  Variations can include adding flavors like peppermint, hazelnut, or even a hint of chili powder for a kick. It’s a nostalgic drink that brings back your childhood and cozy nights.

Sweet Potato Latte

A unique fall creation, the sweet potato latte is made with sweet potato puree mixed with spices like cinnamon and nutmeg, steamed milk (dairy or non-dairy), and a touch of maple syrup or brown sugar for sweetness. The creamy texture and earthy sweetness make it an unexpected but delightful choice for the season, often served with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top.

Hot Spiced Tea

Hot spiced tea is a comforting blend of black tea and a variety of spices, similar to chai but typically brewed stronger. Common spices include cinnamon, cloves, and star anise. The tea can be sweetened with honey or sugar and is often served with a slice of lemon. It’s a warming drink that can be enjoyed alone or with friends, perfect for chilly evenings.

Whether you decide to chill at home with a Chai Latte or hang out at Starbucks with a Pumpkin Spice Latte, each beverage, from the warm spices of apple cider to the creamy richness of a pumpkin spice latte, encapsulates the flavors and aromas that make autumn so special. These drinks bring comfort and joy, making every sip a celebration of fall's enchanting charm. So, grab your favorite mug and embrace the warmth and nostalgia that these seasonal delights provide!
