Soon to Come: New Game-Changing Athletic Facilities at Garnet Valley

Inside and out, Garnet Valley began major construction at the beginning of the 2024-2025 school year to provide student-athletes with new state-of-the-art athletic facilities. 

The 2020 Center, the school's main gymnasium, faced a water leak in the floor last school year. Instead of just repairing the damage on the floor, GV decided to go all out and reconstruct The 2020 Center. 

Besides its more modern look, the improved 2020 Center includes a new gym floor with decorative jaguar graphics, a multicolored LED light system, new wall pads, a new audio system, and new state-of-the-art video scoreboards equipped with a digital scorers table.

This improved gymnasium should be ready for use by late September or early November. 

Along with new indoor improvements, Garnet Valley is also rebuilding the upper fields of the high school to ensure the best for its athletes. 

These new synthetic turf fields will include one baseball field that can convert into a soccer field, a softball field that can also convert into a soccer field, and a final field hockey/lacrosse field that can hold up to 500 fans in the also soon to be constructed grandstands. 

All of these fields will include protective netting and new scoreboards. 

In addition to these new fields, a two-story field house is also set to be constructed. 

The first level, accessible from the stadium, will contain a state-of-the-art weight room fitness center classroom, accessible to sports teams, gym classes, and students of the high school. 

On the second level, accessible from the top fields, there will be a snack bar, restrooms, and a covered observation deck where people can view stadium and top-field sports events. 

The upper field construction is set to start in January of 2025 with a target finish date of mid-August 2025. The field house is presumed to start building around the same start time, but will take slightly longer to finish. 

Garnet Valley is excited about its new construction that will take place during the 2024-2025 school year. The high school’s athletics program is happy to provide these new indoor and outdoor improvements for the Jaguars because they deserve it!
