Spotify Wrapped

It’s the most wonderful time of the year: Christmas cookies, latkes and Spotify Wrapped. For those who are unfamiliar with Spotify, it is a music streaming service that comes out with an end-of-year summary of the music that listeners stream throughout the year. Each year they come out with a selection of stories that highlight data from the past year. Along with the usual top 5 songs and artists, Spotify also revealed a city that matched each listener's taste. It also let users know which month they streamed their top 5 artists the most. One of the stories demonstrates Spotify’s position as a top podcast streaming platform: it shows listeners their top podcast and the percentile of listening.

   Let’s talk statistics. The top song streamed on Spotify in 2023 was “Flowers”' by Miley Cyrus, off her 2023 album “Endless Summer Vacation”. Flowers was followed by “Kill Bill” by SZA, “As It Was” by Harry Styles, “Seven (feat. Latto)” by Jung Kook of Korean boy band BTS, and “Ella Baila Sola” by Eslabon Armado and Peso Pluma as top songs of the year. The top album was “Un Verano Sin Ti” by Bad Bunny. 3695 minutes were spent on average by Spotify listeners this year.
