Last Saturday the William Tennet Speech and Debate competition was in action and finally the results came out! Garnet Valley High School placed in all events, here is a rundown of what happened.
On October 12 Garnet Valley’s Speech & Debate boarded the bus at 6:45 am to come back at 9:30, what dedication! With a total of 4 rounds for main events and 4 rounds for sub-events, all competitors went to a classroom and performed their very best!
Public forum, also known as PF Debate, with four members placing in the semi-finals, Shruti Sridhar and Annika Rux, along with Anvitha Vallabhaneni & Nandana Padmaraj, placed in the Semi-Finals for the Junior Varsity Team! They did amazing so show your support and congratulate them!
In Lincoln Douglas Debate, also known as LD is when you compete in a debate composition all by yourslefSaharsh Narasingolu made it to the semi-finals in Varsity, and Niranjan Ghanekar placed 5th overall in JV! They did amazing, this isn’t as easy as it looks debating all by yourself so make sure you congratulate them!
For OO, also known as original oratory or in less formula terms persuasive speech, is a 10-minute speech trying to persuade an audience of something of importance. Kushi Kommareddy secured 4th place, while Snigdha Chhillar earned 6th, both went to the final round!
I would also like to say a big thanks to all the spectators who came! I hope you all enjoyed and learned something from each person's amazing performance! Thank you to the amazing chaperones who took the time of their day to be with us and make this possible. Once again congrats to all winners and anyone who competed, it takes a lot of guts! I hope GVHS continues this winning streak, have a good rest of your day, and GO GVHS!
